GCC chief urges world response to Gaza escalation

RIYADH, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi underlined on Saturday that the international community should move urgently to halt all forms of military escalation in the Gaza Strip and to stave off a looming humanitarian tragedy there.

He said in a press statement that concerted international efforts need to be exerted in order to stem collective punishment carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against the population of the Palestinian territory in breach of international law.

The GCC chief reiterated his call on the international community to intervene to stop the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Gaza Strip, find a political solution for the crisis and ensure the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, mainly an intendent state on the 1967 border with Eastern Jerusalem being its capital.
