French Pres. opens Paris Olympic Games


French President Emmanuel Macron declared Paris Olympic Games 2024 open on Friday night at a glittering ceremony on the Seine River in the presence of Olympic legends and artistic celebrities from around the globe.

The three-hour ceremony culminated seven years of preparations by the organizers for this historic event.

It featured 12 scenes, notably the performances of Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, that highlighted the best of France’s values, culture and fashion.

Welcoming the participants, the Games’ chief organizer Tony Estanguet promised that the coming 16 days will see the best edition of the global event ever.

On his part, President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach said the Olympic Flame will add to France’s grandeur and prove to be more inclusive, more civilized and more sustainable.
