DÜSSELDORF: The England national football team advanced to the semi-finals of UEFA Euro 2024 after defeating Switzerland 5-3 in a penalty shootout today, following a 1-1 draw after extra time.
The match, held at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dsseldorf, saw Switzerland take the lead through Breel Embolo in the 75th minute. England equalised with a goal from Bukayo Saka in the 80th minute. The tie persisted through extra time, leading to a decisive penalty shootout that England won.
England will face the winner of the Netherlands vs. Trkiye match in the semi-finals next Wednesday.
