Egyptian PM instructs thorough assessment to choose best operator for new cancer hospital

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli held a meeting Tuesday with ministers and senior officials to follow up on the executive status of the new National Cancer Institute hospital – dubbed 500500 hospital – located in Sheikh Zayed city and plans to operate it.

The prime minister instructed thorough assessment of proposals presented by different entities to operate the hospital in order to determine the best choice, urging that the first phase must enter service as soon as possible. The other two will be launched later gradually.

That phase consists of 360 beds, allocating one third to children. That is in addition to out-patient clinics whose capacity is 1,500 per day, day treatment unit that can accommodate 570 patients daily, and interventional radiology (IR) facilities that can serve 220 patients every day. As for the ER, it has 36 beds enough for 150 patients daily.

With regard to imaging devices, there are 27 that can serve 800 patients per day. Other services also include palliative care, physiotherapy, re
habilitation, oxygen therapy, blood bank, and labs for all types of tests.
