Egypt condemns Israel’s decision to ‘legalize’ settlement outposts in West Bank

Egypt condemned the Israeli government’s decision to approve the legalization of five settlement outposts in the West Bank and the plan to build thousands of new settlement units, in a clear violation of international law and Security Council resolutions, most notably Resolution No. 2334, a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs read.

Egypt strongly denounced Israel’s exploitation of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip to push more illegal settlement expansion and attempts to change the legal situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, stressing that Israel’s continuation of these illegal measures aims to undermine the chances of a two-state solution.

Egypt called on the international community to intervene to stop the illegal Israeli procedures and practices.

It also called for intensifying efforts to immediately end the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip
