The Cabinet’s media center denied reports circulated on some websites and social media pages on the government’s plan to sell the Suez Canal for $1 trillion.
The center said in a statement on Saturday 13/7/2024 that it contacted the Suez Canal Authority (SCA), which categorically dismissed such reports as baseless, stressing that the government has no intention to sell the canal.
The SCA stressed that the waterway will remain a completely state-owned asset.
The media center urged citizens not to follow such rumors and to obtain information from official sources.
The center also appealed to all media outlets and social media users to verify the accuracy and objectivity of the news before publishing it.
