Basra Oil Company denies raising the purple flag in West Qurna /1 field due to high temperatures


Baghdad: The Basra Company denied, today, Saturday, what some media reported about raising the purple flag in the West Qurna/1 field, indicating the cessation of work in the field due to temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius.

A statement from the company stated: ‘The Basra Oil Company categorically denies what was contained in this news,” confirms that “the photo accompanying the news is not in the West Qurna/1 field nor in any other of our oil fields.’

The company confirms, ‘This procedure is not applicable in our oil fields, but there are preventive measures to reduce the risks of exposure to high temperatures while performing critical work, including the Heat Stress program, which includes specific recommendations and procedures to avoid these risks,’ according to the statement.

The company called on media to ‘rely on official sources in reporting news and stay away from anything that might lead to confusion in the production process, which everyone agrees is important in sustaining the country’s ec
onomy.
