Istanbul, The Turkish Authorities arrested a cyber espionage network that seized personal data of thousands of people in several countries around the world, including Turkey, and shared it with terrorist organizations.
Turkish security sources stated in a media circular today, Tuesday, that the operation was carried out within the framework of the investigation conducted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Ankara, in coordination between the General Command of the Gendarmerie Forces and the National Cyber Incident Response Center.
During the operation, which was carried out in coordination with the Turkish Intelligence Service, 11 suspects were arrested, and it was found that the network had foreign extensions, and shared the personal data it had seized with anyone who requested it, including terrorist organizations.
It was also found that the espionage network, which the Turkish intelligence had been tracking for a long time, provided important information, especially to terrorist organizations. Simultan
eously with the sending of the accused to prison, many websites were blocked.
Security sources explained that the Turkish Intelligence Service will continue to expand its operations against cyber espionage networks in order to protect personal data that is of utmost importance, and that operations against the espionage network will not be limited to Turkey, but will extend to the networks’ extensions abroad.
The security sources stated in their circular that the Turkish Intelligence Service will continue to firmly implement deterrent and preventive measures against all types of activities that threaten the country’s national security.
