Al-Araji discusses in New York the support of the UN for the fight against terrorism in Iraq

The National Security Adviser, Qassem Al-Araji, met at the United Nations headquarters in New York, today, Wednesday, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Anti-Terrorism Affairs, Vladimir Voronkov.

According to the chancellery’s statement, Al-Araji discussed with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Anti-Terrorism Affairs the strengthening of relations between Iraq and the international organization, as well as the support of the United Nations for the file of combating terrorism in Iraq.

Al-Araji also conveyed to Voronkov, Iraq’s request to the international community to urge countries to withdraw their nationals from the Syrian al-Hawl camp, and to provide support through the United Nations in the field of rehabilitation and integration carried out by the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement, as well as support for international organizations that are assisting Iraq in rehabilitation and reconstruction of some areas destroyed by the war, pointing out that Iraq fought terrorism on behalf of the international community, and therefore the international community should carry out its duties towards Iraq.

Al-Araji presented a proposal to the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations that there be a special representative of the Secretary-General to return nationals to their countries from the Syrian al-Hol camp, indicating that Iraq has declared its readiness to cooperate with the United Nations in the field of combating terrorism, indicating that the Iraqi government has taken many measures in the field of survivors’ law, and justice for the victims of terrorism, and it works continuously to return the displaced and rebuild the areas destroyed by the war.
